The Genealogical Society of Washtenaw County actively promotes family history, education, and the preservation of records that are vital in the search for your ancestors, whether they lived in Michigan or elsewhere.

The society has many opportunities for you to participate. By volunteering a little of your time you can enrich the genealogical experience that our society offers.

Coordinating components of the News-Pages, including write-ups, publicizing upcoming events and sharing Society news.

WEB COMMITTEE

Participate in review meetings 3x/year, helping to keep the GSWC website up-to-date and preparing for the transition to mobile-friendly design.

CEMETERY TRANSCRIPTION (FIND A GRAVE) – Help in adding photos and cemetery transcriptions from our readings to our GSWC Find A Grave account. Contact Rob & Cyndy Steward 734-429-9262 or Cemetery Committee.

CEMETERY TRANSCRIPTION READINGS – Join others in transcribing cemetery stones on our annual cemetery reading days. Time commitment is 4 to 8 hours a year. Contact Rob & Cyndy Steward 734-429-9262 or Cemetery Committee.

FAMILY HISTORY CAPERS - Join the staff and help with the production of the quarterly journal. Contact Marcia McCrary info@washtenawgenealogy.org. Find and write up source material for Washtenaw County.

NEWS-PAGES - Take notes during a program or class and write up a brief report. Contact Marcia McCrary at info@washtenawgenealogy.org.

RESEARCH - Help answer requests for research in Washtenaw County. We meet at the Ann Arbor District Library Storage Facility to confer and reply to research requests. We use mainly the materials in our library, but sometimes visit other Washtenaw resources. You can still be part of the research team if you have time on days other than Mondays.
